QUESTION: “What tools have you been enjoying using? On a personal or professional level. Tools can be programs, office supplies, hobby tools, organization hacks, etc.”
WHY: In honor of it being back to school in some regions, this meeting kickoff is inspired by back-to-school supplies shopping (which I keep hearing is not as fun as it used to be). As employees and people with lives to run, we still use supplies and tools every day. This question is intended to be applicable to everyone and depending on what is shared, your team could learn something new about each other.
MAKE IT VISUAL: Instead of just asking this question out loud and listening to crickets…I mean waiting for answers from the select few that will share, you can implement using visuals to encourage participation.
- Share this doodle so the question is visible on the screen (makes it more official and provides some examples)
- Type out or write out what people are sharing as they contribute
- Bonus if you draw the tools too (aka graphic record the answers)
- If you tell them ahead of time, they could bring the tool or do a demo (show and tell anyone?)
